It is 10 years already! I remember getting the invitation from Academician Professor Ren to give akeynote lecture at the 3rdthe International Conference on Bionic Engineering in Zhuhai in 2010. Having heard very good things about the previous conferences in Changchun, I was very happy and honored, and immediately accepted.
It was a great honor to be a part of founding the International Society of Bionic Engineering which has blossomed into a leading forum for dissemination of knowledge and innovation in the crossroads of Biology and Engineering, something which was discussed in different locations but first realized in Zhuhai.
Over the years, the society has grown and become a truly international operation, with the highlights of the triennial conferences in China , and the annual meetings in various countries, including our hosting of the The 7th International Workshop of Bionic Engineering (ICBE18) held in Tel Aviv, in conjunction with the the4thBiomimicry- Academy & Industry conference. These conferences have resulted, in addition to the important new knowledge presented, also in interesting personal contacts, and new collaborations, in China and around the world.
I would like to thank and commend Prof. Ren, Secretary Li, Prof Tian and Ms Gao, and of course Julian Vincent – our scientific mentor, and Thomas Stegmaierfor their excellent service to the Society. I hope that we will be able to meet in person again soon.
